GEN Z party at ghd

Last Monday night ghd hosted the GEN Z party with Creative HEAD in our Dean Street studios. For the first time Amanda Nottage handed over the editing reins to a brand new generation. As ghd have such a strong connection with recognising and supporting new talent this seemed like an issue that we needed to be part of! I asked Amanda how it felt she said “terrifying handing over the magazine but absolutely inspiring to watch and listen to their journeys and views.”
Adam Reed, Johanna Cree Brown, Leigh Keates, Neil Moodie, James Galvin, Gianni Scumaci, Charlotte Cave and Yesmin O’Brien, plus many more, were all there on the night to help celebrate the future of hairdressing with us all and raise a glass to our wonderful Generation Z team.

ghd partnered with Creative HEAD to make the event and the issue a reality, when we first heard about the idea we knew this was the perfect time to celebrate the ghd style squad too. See here for the style squad leaving party. The guest list was a who is who of the industry. The team from Creative Head made it a wonderful evening, the lucky guests were able to see the ghd style squad leaving exhibition as well as the new ones to watch along with gorgeous nibbles and of course fabulous cocktails…. well it is a ghd party!

Making up the GEN Z list are;
Darcie Harvey from Brooks & Brooks
Tegan Robertson from Not Another Salon
Harry Wiffen from Trevor Sorbie Salons
Sam William Hill from Cut & Grind barbers

Amanda shared “The Generation Z team hijacked our July/August issue of Creative HEAD so that they could share with us what it’s like for them right now. The team addressed the pressures they face, the challenges to finish their training and get earning on the salon floor, all while facing a rather negative attitude from older members of the hairdressing industry aimed at “the youth of today”.

Tom Dodd who is part of the ghd style squad said: “Thank you for this platform, it’s an honour. The last few days have been emotional. Last night was the final ghd style squad evening together. Thank you to all my squadders, I love you all and thank you to all at ghd. Finally, the biggest thank you to Zoë Irwin for being the most incredible mentor and someone who’s honestly helped me tenfold.”

Huge thanks to Creative Head for working with us, it is a massive opportunity for the young talent. I wish their was people in the industry nurturing the future like this when I was a young stylist. View our hi lights on Instagram @ghdhairpro
